Father of two murdered by CPI Maoists in Telangana

Telangana : CPI Maoists have lynched a 28- year-old father of two identified as Korasa Ramesh of the remote K Kondapuram village in Mulugu district. He was killed in the Kottapalli forest area in neighbouring Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on the night of December 21.

On Monday, Ramesh and another tribal youth were on a motorcycle heading to Bheemaram forest area in Chhattisgarh when they were summoned and detained by ultras. The ultras blindfolded them and took them deep into the woods for about six to seven hours and kept them in captivity for the entire night. On Tuesday morning, the rebels let off another youth but shifted Ramesh to a separate hideout where they killed him after questioning. His body was found in the Kottapalli forest area. Ramesh is survived by his wife and two children.

Mulugu SP Sangram Singh Patil issued a statement on Wednesday alleging that Maoists were extorting money from people and are abducting and murdering those who do not pay by branding them as police informers to serve as an example for others.

The CPI Maoists issued a statement branding the deceased as a “police informer” stating that he had betrayed the party and was being murdered as per “the people’s wish”.

The deceased is survived by his wife Rajani who is a field level health functionary and two children. A grief stricken Rajani wept inconsolably on hearing the news of her husband’s murder. Her relatives took her to the incident site later in the day to see his dead body.
